I loved playing all sports at school. Our whole family played tennis and I really enjoyed it. My brother introduced me to golf and soon I just loved the game. I spent many hours practicing and playing in tournaments from an early age. I was very determined to make something out of my sporting gifts and knew I had to work hard to be successful. In 2002, as an amateur, I played a round of 57 (15 under par) on the Mossel Bay Golf Course. At that very moment, I knew that I could be a successful professional golfer. That momentous achievement inspired me to become a professional golfer and when I started my brand in 2009, I knew the name should have something to do with that very special 57 and so the Louis 57 brand was formed.
Since 2009, my Louis 57 brand has flourished, growing to include the Louis57 Foundation, Louis57 Junior Golf Academy, Louis57 Wines, Matko57 Golf Course Design, Louis57 Travel, Louis57 Online, Route57 Restaurant & Louis 57 Lager.
